Maea drew a shuddering gasp when the gentle weight of Ludo settled over her, a cloak heavy as waterlogged wool and light as nothing at all. Hot and cold and nothing, and the voice whispering so close to her ear it might as well have been inside her head. It was terrifying and wonderful and the girl was too stricken by the unexpected honor to reply at first. But then she nodded, because really; what was the point of being here to bear whitness if she could not actually see what happened? Terrifying or not. "Yes, please, Ludo. If you don't mind..." Was it a tad macabre? Perhaps. But. It was Ludo. How could anyone expect anything else?
