Momentarily, he forgets the idea of gifts to see what the heck she's up to. He kneels down opposite to her, listening with both an interested and incredulous expression.
"I've been uh.. better," he offers, making an effort to relax, "trying to keep my head up, staying busy..." His gaze flits down as the board actually moves upwards, and he quickly reaches out to try to help catch it before it slides back down. "You know, if this is where you've hidden my present, you didn't have to go through so much trouble," he offers a joking smirk up at her.
