Keeping your back to her as much as possible, you fish out tongs and plates from your bag and then set about gathering the food from the coals, buttery laulau and kalua pork wrapped in foil. Each plate gets a packet of food, and you pass hers to her without quite making your eyes, face flushed from discomfort and heat.
