Nate doesn’t have to try too hard to try Haai closer, the griffin easily flopping into Nate’s side and spreading a wing out, tongue lolling out of the side of her mouth as she focuses on Sunjata from this position. Sunjata, meanwhile, focuses on Nate’s answer to the poised question — understanding it and yet still disliking it all the same. So he lets his hand remain on Nate’s side, offering what little comfort he could, letting his gaze drop to the griffin.
“Alright.” Sunjata agrees, because what else could he do? He doesn’t want to argue the point, not while Nate’s still healing, still hurting too. “Can I at least walk with you there and back home? Like we used to?” He asks, reaching out with his own free hand to try and clasp Nate’s freehand with his own.
And then after a moment of consideration, he chews the inside of his cheek as he lets his gaze wash over Nate’s face. “How does it look today?” It’s quieter, softer, wondering how much it’d scarred and healed while his Ascended body worked overtime to heal and fix him.
