On Wax Wings

Light flickered, perhaps, for just a moment within the grooves and crevices that had been carved into the stone. But it lasted only a second or two, before blinking out entirely. The wind rose and howled through the hollows of the Underground; a haunting melody that seemed to blow throughout the chamber, promising so many things but delivering nothing at all. For just a second the childlike statue of the deity might appear to wear a mocking smile, a sneer, almost... but surely it was just the imagination. The wind died down, the song faded, and Lucas would be left utterly alone with no one to answer his request for an audience.
