It's Lord of the Flies in my mind tonight
For all her preternatural ability to move well, it seems that even Wessex can forget where she’s placed things. The sudden appearance of a few rodent-like creatures in the wall startle her and she jerks back, knocking against the bucket. Out goes the water and as she turns around, Wessex scowls. Lovely. Picking it back up, she tosses what remains of the dirty water outside, and then proceeds to grab another couple of rags to soak the water up, wringing them out in the bucket, until it seems like most of the gray liquid is gone. Now it’s just the grime on the floor again, and after tossing out the that bucket, she opts for one of cleaner water, and spot-cleans from there.
It’s a lot of time on her hands and knees - somewhere she hasn’t been in awhile. And now she remembers why. While her muscles and joints don't ache, the monotony of cleaning is dreadful.
