The bird he'd been holding was taken care of, thankfully meaning Nate could take a step away from Sam, the other man's resentment all but rolling off him in waves. He took a few steps to the side, then knelt to grab his own rock, hurling it into the flock at an angle. Perhaps the change would improve their luck, give him a better chance of hitting something.
Regardless of whether he hit anything or not, his attention immediately shifted to the ground beneath the flock, ready to move if a bird fell from the sky. Nate couldn't say he was hopeful though, given how this was going in the short time he'd been around.
