AMALIA
Again she finds herself in Torchline, largely at Jyoti's request. The little whale is enamored with the sea, and Amalia feels no small affection for it, too. But while Jyoti seeks out the waves and surf, the Shield has decided to people watch today. Barefoot and dressed in thin, flowing pants and a sleeveless greet top, she makes her way among the stalls, a basket of bread held in her hand, her shield on her back.
She isn't really sure what to make of this town yet, so vibrant and wild compared to the Grounds. The people here chatter and laugh and scold and shout; they live their lives loudly, in a way that is wholly foreign to the girl.
There's a darkness here that's unfamiliar, too, a human sort of avarice she has seen very little of. Amalia walks through the streets entranced, utterly oblivious to the tail she has picked up, a young man who follows her at a safe distance ready to snatch what he can from her person. The necklace of charms, the titanium shield- even the basket is tempting to the thief, unaccustomed as he is to seeing wealth so casually flaunted in this dangerous den.
