The growl threatened to swamp Loren entirely, but somehow he kept his head. Indeed, he met Frey’s challenging smile with a grin of his own. It betrayed a confidence that he didn’t quite feel. Although he knew the deity could sense the emotions, he equally knew that projecting confidence was important. However, he breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed the back of his head when they finally disappeared.
It was probably unwise to linger, so he scrambled to his feet. However, his steps were slow even as his mind raced, trying to figure out what he could do and bring that would fit the god's requests. He tried to keep the dread from rising as he concerned what secrets he knew, and who might hate him for them.
