The healer was hesitant in reacting to Amalia, having never been much of a fighter. He was wonderful at taking care of the fighters once they returned, but he never knew what to do when he was faced with a fight of his own. He hesitated for a moment in letting her go first, but accepted the lantern from her. Desmond saw the gargoyles unable to reach Archebold through whatever kind of force field he seemed to possess, and he hoped that the man would be generous in assisting them. His gut told him otherwise, however. As the girl began to get flanked by the animated gargoyles, Desmond felt his heart start racing. ”The light means nothing compared to your life!” The young man snapped, much bolder than anything he was usually close to capable of. Desmond didn’t exactly buy the likelihood of her wooden staff being enough to fend off stone monsters, so he stepped into the water just behind her, dodging the swings of her staff. Archebold didn’t need the light from the lantern, so the healer was much more concerned with keeping Amalia alive. He would attempt to grab her arm and simply make a run for it towards the other man, and hopefully the safety of whatever barrier he had put up, keeping his head down to try to avoid the gargoyles. desmond Talk to the Moon, Heal the Soul
