"Well, you're definitely mine," Ronin murmured thoughtfully; what had originally been a barb, something to throw at Remi with the intention to hurt him, had instead become truth - a truth that the hunter couldn't run away from. Because Remi was the sun, to him - the only thing shining on a bleak day, when even being a father seemed difficult. If he'd been able to move enough, he might have even tried to take his husband's hand.
But even that much contact felt like it might tempt the horror within him to the fore, if he didn't watch his step.
"Alright," he murmured, a rueful smile on his lips. "Then thank you for not giving up. When this is all over I'll make sure that it was worth every bit of effort you put in." And wasn't that the fucking truth.
"Hm...? No, I don't think I've ever had the pleasure. Luckily I managed to avoid getting arrested during Zariah's reign."
