AMALIA
It is night when she lands in the Oasis, Jyoti flying by her side. Clad in feathers and starlit wings, the owl is a silent shadow in the dim evening light. She has come to test something out, push her new abilities and see how far she can stretch them. Amalia remembers watching Jigano call to crows, sending them off to capture beetles. How far can she push her call, how much compulsion can she cause?Landing on a low-set branch, Amalia closes her eyes, her mind expanding as she reaches out for nearby avian minds. One tree away she can sense a snow owl: large and wise, it is looking for voles, its dark eyes acute and intent on the ground. Pressing softly upon its thoughts, she suggests that perhaps it would like to come over, to leave its normally solitary station and find companionship at her side.
A hoot of surprise and delight escapes her as the larger bird suddenly appears, sitting beside her on the branch, rather bemused but not altogether displeased. Triumphant, the girl attempts to reach out once more, seeking to see how many birds she can bring to her side at one time.
