One among their number shook his dye-and-ash darkened head thoughtfully at all the hubbub, and turned away...
But a short while later a slender man in nondescript, dusty clothing ambled out of the trees, his hair pulled up and tucked underneath a broad-brimmed hat pulled low over his face. He nodded to Delah, but tipped his hat back just far enough to wink a bright blue eye at Arduinna before taking the charcoal and writing, in short, neat strokes:
