She saw him first. He was difficult to miss, truth be told, towering over the rabble and illuminated by the blazing fire. It put Maea in a difficult position. On one hand, she was inclined to simply steer clear of the man and forget everything he'd told her about himself and his old Ancient ways. On the other, they were both inhabiting the same region and the same city, and if rumors were true it might not be long before he worked his way into Danta's council alongside her and Kiada. Or attained some other position of note. She was bound to run into him more often than not, and it would be a poor Ambassador who couldn't overcome her own prejudice and find compromise in any given situation.

So she sucked in a breath, steeled herself and approached the dark-haired gentleman, intentionally scuffing her feet against the snow-covered ground to announce her presence. The way he was whacking that dummy with his cane made her want to avoid any misunderstandings; at least until she had armed herself.
"Good morning," she greeted, once she caught his attention. "I hope I'm not interrupting... you seemed rather far away." Her gaze took in the layers of clothing and the shaggy hair, bounced off the bite mark on his neck and trailed off, disinterested in everything but the weapons in his hands and the potential for a good workout.
