At the bottom of the blackest hole
Alys sat quietly while Tal pondered the reading he'd been given, sipping at her wine and watching her friend's face as he processed the cards. There was little she could do now that the cards had given their wisdom, save for ask for clarification, if it was needed. In her opinion, the reading had been fairly clear, as readings went - although she smiled ruefully at the expected question of how long it would take. "Some try to ask the cards for timing," she said. "But I've never had much luck doing so. The future isn't written in stone; every decision we make, and every decision those around us make, shift our future in ways that we can't even imagine."
Alys took another sip of her wine. Nearby, Sascha stretched and rolled over to her other side, the better to cuddle up with Boreal. "I often tell my clients that love is the hardest thing to predict, because it's not just you I'm trying to read - it's your partner, too." It was ironic, really, for Alys to be giving love advice, since she'd never been a romantic herself, and yet, she was often called to do so in her line of work. It normally didn't bother her - it was just a part of the job - but with Tal, it was different. She wanted to have answers to give him, but the tarot, no matter how it appeared, was not inherently magical. It was simply mystical, and people often got the two confused.
She tilted her head to one side thoughtfully. "Is there someone in particular you feel strongly about?" she asked gently, curious but not wanting to pry. This was a side of Tal that she wasn't used to seeing, and if there was anything she could do to help him, she would.
