The bird was interesting, but it was the habitat that had captured the merman's attention so completely. He leaned on his trident as he contemplated such a desolate, waterless land that would mean instant death for any of his people - but there was a thrill, too, of being so near to such a dangerous environment, even if it was safely contained within the magical enclosure.
After a while he exhaled a long-held breath and finally tore his eyes away, seeking the next biome along the path and wondering what strange creatures he might see within.

He tilted his head slowly, his expression calm and serene though a sliver of wary tension moved through his muscles as he recognized a predator. Still, the Celestine was supposed to be a place of peace for all the creatures within, and he trusted Lena's word on that.
Peace, he sent through the Attuned Bond, his mental voice a low, warm rumble like distant summer thunder. Perhaps the feline could understand him... or perhaps it was no true cat at all. Either way, he lost nothing by trying.
