"You can call me Raelyn, if you prefer," she said nonchalantly, though she still thought it would be difficult to change a nickname this late in life. Still, maybe she would give it a try, see how it went. It was something to mull over while Danta cleaned up in her little bathroom, at least, as she went to the kitchen and put on a kettle of water to boil for tea.
When Danta returned, she nodded at his assessment. "I suppose it is, now." she mused aloud. "There's a lot that's changed over time. After the barrier fell, everyone left, and nobody ever came back. It's a shame, since the Grounds really has a lot to offer." She sighed. They were barely holding their region together; most of it had grown wild and untamed in the time since the barrier had fallen, and with no leader in place to guide their people towards fixing what was wrong with the region...
The kettle whistled, stirring Rae from her thoughts. "Can I offer you some tea?" she asked, turning to the stove and preparing a cup for herself - two, if Danta wanted one. "As for interesting things, we've got a little bit of everything. Honestly, what we really need is somebody to step forward as leader." She shrugged. "A lot of the Grounds needs cleaning up, but nobody seems to know where to start."
