Success comes a second time, which is a relief because based on Noah and Alys, that luck will not be holding out for long. Especially as the rain begins to slow into a drizzle, clouds already starting to dissipate with astonishing swiftness beneath the oppressive heat of the sun. Glad for her drenched hair and clothes that would keep her cool until the sun dried her out, Evie puts her bones in her bag and catches up with Deimos. It will be a lengthy journey to Kings End, but at least they will be leaving the desert. That's all Evie can hope for. Any longer and her freckles will multiply thricefold, not to mention the burns. Eager to leave, the Evergreen pops to Deimos' side and rocks on her feet, ready to get on the move.
