Tal just looked smug and lifted the jug admonishingly. "Dinner first, then dessert," he stated with mock gravitas. The cookies were safely tucked away where they wouldn't get crushed by an overly-playful dragon or wolf and weren't coming out until the first round of drinks were on the table.
Besides, vodka was made from potatoes, and potatoes were totally a dinner food! And whiskey was basically just distilled grain, right?

Taking the opposite seat and pouring the first pair of shots, Tal lifted his glass to the man across the table and grinned. "Here's to us surviving another year!"
