October
when the night falls on you
& you don't know what to do
For someone as routine as Finn, he certainly catches October off-guard far more than anyone might expect. For a moment her smile grows, falters, and then radiates as her eyes slip from his own, down into the dark pool of shadows on his lip. Given all that they have been through, it seems silly and perhaps backwards to be so twitterpated at the notion that Finn might like it if Tobi told people they were dating, and yet here she was, entirely tongue-tied with sunshine seeming to radiate out from her core. "Okay." She says in a voice made small by laughter and the desire not to wake their son. "Next time I will."

Feeling small and beautiful in his arms despite the bags that were almost certainly under her eyes and his t-shirt baggy on her shoulders, Tobi lingers in the wake of his kiss for a moment before pressing the tip of her nose against his and straightening so that her fingers might resume their work on his shoulders. "It is a fairly broad umbrella." She explains. "But one example, is that singing can help stimulate the vegas nerve, which runs from here—" One of her fingers moves to the side of his neck where his jugular was, before drawing down towards his sternum. "—to here—" Towards his belly, her fingertips fracture out to indicate the nerve's pattern. "—ending here. It's the nerve that controls flight or fight responses. During heightened states of anxiety, stimulating the nerve can help slow both responses."

Her fingers rise once again. "Just as placing something cold on the neck can help calm someone down, singing can stimulate the nerve as well. So can vibrations, like those caused by music."
nothing you confess
could make me love you less
