Tal nodded glumly at Deimos's point, and when he raised his head his gaze was caught by the changing colors of the small swarm. The ones nearest him slid through muddy blues and bloody carmines, colors bright and dark and shifting. He watched them for a little while with reluctant fascination, distracted by their aerial dance until the General spoke up again and the courier shot him a sharp glance.
"Like... puppets?" It was a terrifying thought to try and wrap his head around, and Tal grimaced in reluctant sympathy. "Poor, cold-blooded bastards. Still can't really figure out why anyone would choose that trail. S'like makin' a deal with Lady Deepfrost. The price is always a lot higher than you think it'll be at the time." He shook his head, then jerked it back from a modilu that tried to investigate his nose, scowling. "Wish their portals weren't so damn convenient, at least. Be nice to have an alternative."
