In response to the framing, she did her best impression of a spooky ghost, with arms wriggling mysteriously in the air. Huffing a laugh she shook her head.
"I am too." Then her eyes narrowed at him. "And? What are you really thinking? It won't hurt my feelings if you disagree. Not much, anyway."
Both paths seemed equally unsafe, truth be told. Maea ignored the question for the time being, and busied herself with the search for a pair of stout canes. Not an easy thing to find in this part of the marshland, but she did manage to fashion something almost suitable with a few quick passes of a dagger over some toppled saplings.
She passed one to her brother. "Only safe path is behind us, and what's the fun in going back? Let's try the right one. I've got a good feeling about it." And whether or not that was reason enough to take the left path, she began to make her way carefully onwards, constantly prodding the ground with the cane to make sure she didn't get sucked into a pit.
