Nikolai gives a small shrug, voice going a bit quieter with insecurity. "It's just... you should never assume favors or help." He lets out a sigh, "It's just better to ask. Just in case." Even with family, hell, especially with family. No assumptions, no expectations. That was what was best.
Receiving his assignment, the youngest Ascended gave a sharp nod. "I'll get it done." Grabbing a broom and dustpan, Nikolai heads down to the basement. The mindless labor is much appreciated, and he puts all of his energy and focus into the task. He begins by dusting the dirt off of everything and then proceeds to try and sweep up all of the dirt and dust. Hopefully it'll make an improvement on the place.
