"And it's not like you gave almost dying the weight it deserves, just flinging it out mid-conversation."
Sitting back in his seat suddenly, it feels more like stormclouds are brewing overhead than snow. "I'm sorry," he says slowly, keeping his eyes pressed shut and fighting to wrestle back his worry and his frustration. "It's been a long day, and I just... I'm not coping well, I don't think."
