Maeve

A bit intense? Maeve arches a brow at this, head cocking to the side curiously. It's not what she's expecting. At the sound of Aurelia's laugh, one of her own bubbles up, soft and unexpected as it fills the space between them. "A bit intense, huh? What does that mean exactly?" Maeve draws her knees up, leaning against the back of the couch, letting it cradle her tired body. She balances her tea on top of her knees, occasionally taking a sip in hopes of keeping her nerves settled, focusing on Aurelia as she speaks. "Perhaps it does, but I can't help feeling like it's a me problem." Maeve shakes her head, a wane smile curling on her lips, propping her head up against her hand.

She reaches out to lay a comforting hand on Aurelia's knee when she finally joins her on the couch, offering her silent support as the woman settles across from her, expression shifting into one of concern as she waits. Whatever this is weighs heavily on the Arbiter, winding her up tightly, setting her on edge as if she's scared to actually speak. Maeve waits quietly, thumb brushing idly across her knee, meeting her gaze as her eyes finally open.

She will kill me, Maeve. The words steal her breath and she freezes, eyes widening slightly, heart clenching at the words. It hurts to even consider. It isn't that Hotaru doesn't deserve her to mourn the loss of Atlas or that Aurelia shouldn't have killed him, but to continue to seek Aurelia's death even when she plans to bring Atlas back? The thought makes her sick and she shakes her head, setting her tea down so she can move closer to the Arbiter, grasping at her hands, "We won't let that happen. I won't let that happen." Maeve stresses, feeling clammy with the idea that it might be necessary at al, her stomach churning violently.

Maeve is silent for the rest of her confession, desperately trying to find the words, desperately wanting to understand. Her mouth opens to speak, but nothing comes out. Instead her face drains of color and suddenly she's bolting from the couch, disappearing down the hall, the sound of a door pushing open into a wall follows. The Madame barely has a chance to kneel at the toilet before she's heaving, emptying the contents of her stomach into the porcelain bowl, a sheen of sweat breaking out across her brow.
Poor little girl
still waiting for her happy ending
