It stops everyone cold. Her blood feels as if it freezes in her veins and she hurries to scoop Paige up, the girl's eyes wide with fear as she trembles in her arms, clinging to her tightly. Maeve finds Locke, fingers curling in the sleeve of his shirt as she presses close, looking up to meet his gaze and the worry is clear in her eyes. They had been having a good time. They'd been breezing through and living life as if their days weren't numbered. Now they clearly are.
