Nate sucks his teeth, the cherry flaring and dying as he does. Everything Remi does seems to be the wrong move, seems to fill Nate with a twitching, restless energy, the same kind that had the alchemist against a wall last they met. “Hate a lotta people I don’t know.” The words come out lazily, the ascended spitting the cigarette butt into the sand as he shifts his weight. “Y’made it easy to.”
The next words though, they strike a nerve, the same one he must have brushed agaisnt with his initial accusation. “Y’gotta real funny idea of even.” Nate sneers, crossing his arms and straightening up. “Why the fuck would I have anything t’do with that, eh?” The words slip away into a quiet hiss, Nate leaning in just a little to try and compensate for it. Or maybe to be a little threatening, despite the power imbalance between them.
