It was a chilling response, but that didn't make it any less true. If Archebold had wanted to drain her dry he could have done so easily. If he'd wanted to trap her and keep her, or kill her while she slept... all were within his power. A reluctant shard of respect for the Ascended pricked its way under her skin, and Isla glanced away from him. "Point taken," she murmured, "though referring to your guests as ripened morsels will not earn you many friends." Somehow, she didn't think he really gave a damn about that either. The part of her that screamed to leave (and the smaller part that didn't like being told what to do) withered under exhaustion as he motioned for her to lay back. A small internal struggle later and she relented, settling back to be tucked in by the monster that had leeched her lifeblood. She raised an eyebrow as he explained where he was sleeping (did Ascended sleep anyway?), but she found herself nodding nonetheless. "You sound like a doctor," she mumbled, already sounding as though she was drifting off. His words were foreign but she was sure she recognised one - angel.
