Alys watched with a quiet sort of amusement as Koa collected the kite and the dragon, gave Pip what appeared to be a miniature pep talk, and throwing her skyward. It took some time - and several attempts, all of which had Alys wincing and hoping and clapping in equal measure - but eventually, the kite floated into the sky and managed to stay airborne. The seer was relieved - she'd been afraid that the little dragon might get hurt if she fell from the sky. In the end, Alys whooped and laughed alongside the youth as the kite (or Pip) caught the right swell of air to stay in the sky. She didn't take her eyes off of the dragon as she waved away Koa's thanks. "I didn't do anything," she told him. "Your dragon did it all on her own." The seer paused. "You know what? Why don't you keep the kite? Maybe it will be of use to you both." And she offered an encouraging smile. Gods only knew what struggles the pair had - though she'd gathered that the dragon had yet to take flight - and maybe this could be a spot of brightness in these troubled times. -FIN- alys glasse |
